ABOUT

~ WELCOME TO UZIO ~

Uzio House sits on the waterfront of Shela Village on Lamu Island. It boasts one of the most beautiful views on the island. Recently renovated to retain its Swahili character, it is full of traditional features like carved wooden doors and vidaka plasterworks. Uzio means "fish trap" in the local Swahili language.

~THE HOUSE~

Uzio House is laid out on three floors. The top floor of the main house features the master bedroom which spills onto a large veranda with great views of Manda Island and the Shela waterfront.

Below are two more bedrooms, an extensive dining area, a Swahili lounge and the veranda.

The ground floor has a well equipped kitchen and guest bathroom, where you will find one of Shela’s oldest vidakas. These lead onto an outside dining area full of vibrant bouganville and under the shade of our very own coconut palm tree.

ROOMS

The gentle swoosh of waves and palm trees, the intoxicating charm and beauty of this traditional village, the lazy days spent on a white sandy beach looking at nothing more than puffy white clouds drifting by at the same pace as the picturesque sailing dhows, will give friends and families a holiday they will always remember. Come and experience a little piece of paradise
